The sport of Canine Obedience is a sport that requires team effort.  Dog and handler work as an extension of the other andtheir combined efforts are judged.  As an instructor in this sport, I stress the importance of keeping the fun in the training of the dogs.  If the dog and/or the handler are not having fun, if the handler’s ego is placed above the comfort level of the dog, if the ribbons and placements become the motivating factor for competing, then there is something very wrong.

If I feel that this is happening with any of my students, my goal then becomes to remind the handler on what brought them to me in the first place.  The main reason people usually enter into this sport is the love they have for their dogs.

The photos that follow are of puppies who have left me to live with some very special people.  Some I met because they had other dogs who needed training.  Some I met because they were looking for a Golden to love and then stayed around to train the puppy.  Most, have become close friends.

It has been my privilege to watch my puppies grow into adulthood and become competitors in a sport that I love.

It is my pleasure to introduce:
